Cooperation Protocol Signed Between Gazimağusa Municipality and University of City Island.

A cooperation protocol was signed between Gazimağusa Municipality (GMB) and Ada Kent University (AKU) with the aim of creating employment opportunities for students and contributing to municipal services.

The protocol was signed and put into effect by Gazimağusa Mayor Dr. Süleyman Uluçay and AKU Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Yorulmaz.

Within the scope of the agreement, the workforce needs of Gazimağusa Municipality in general service areas (such as street and neighborhood cleaning, tree pruning, park and garden irrigation) will be met by employing Ada Kent University students in part-time, daily, or seasonal jobs. In this way, municipal services will be supported while also contributing to students’ living expenses.

Opportunities for students will be announced through the university’s student portal and official channels. The application process will be carried out via the rectorate, and the municipality has pledged to employ the recruited students in full compliance with legal regulations.

The protocol also envisions academic cooperation and the development of joint projects between the two institutions.

Commenting on the cooperation protocol, AKU Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Bülent Yorulmaz said: “We are ready to do whatever is necessary to work in partnership with Gazimağusa Municipality. On behalf of our university, we thank you.”

Gazimağusa Mayor Dr. Süleyman Uluçay stated: “We believe this will benefit our students. Best wishes.”

The protocol will remain valid for one year and may be extended by mutual agreement of the parties.
