University of City Island (UCI) English Preparatory School was established to prepare students for associate, undergraduate or graduate programs where the medium of instruction is English. While all students who are successful in the English Proficiency Exam held in September start their first year courses, students whose English level is below the proficiency level attend the English Preparatory School and receive the necessary language education for undergraduate departments. To achieve this goal, an intensive two-semester program is carried out with an emphasis on reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Students are placed in four groups according to their level of English and study 25 lessons per week during an academic year. In order to be a first-year student, in addition to showing a certain level of annual success, it is also necessary to be successful in the English Proficiency Exam at the end of the year. The Individual-Study Center, which is located in the English Preparatory School building with its computer and audiovisual facilities, helps the students to improve their language skills with various studies offered by professionals, and in addition to these, services are offered over the internet.
